Listen to "Mitch, Morrie and Making a Difference (podcast)"

Seek new horizons.

With this profound wisdom from his mother while growing up, this month’s guest, Mitch Albom, has found the key to a life well lived. An author, musician, radio host and philanthropist, Mitch tells co-hosts Sam Dubin and Beverly Liss how gratitude, blessings and being aware of help when we least expect it have been foundational in his life. He explains how the legacy he would like to leave is simply one of kindness, generosity and compassion as well as reflecting on the role his Jewish heritage and education have played in who he is and his view on the world. Did you know he operates an orphanage in Haiti? Tikkun Olam indeed.

Mazel tov to this month’s Mitzvah Maker: Rachel Grey Ellis

Mitzvah Maker is the segment of the show where we honor an unsung hero in our community.

If you’ve ever been to Tamarack Camps, you know the experience can leave a lasting impression beyond just your time spent there. If you’ve ever met this month’s Mitzvah Maker, Rachel Grey Ellis, she’s most likely made a lasting impression on you too.

Recently honored with Tamarack’s Distinguished Alumna Award, Rachel grew up as a “staff kid” and camper during her mom, Ruth Grey’s (z”l), eleven years as a beloved Associate Camp Director. She was a teen service staff (TSS) member, counselor and tripper, and served on the Tamarack Camps Board of Directors for over a decade.

In this month’s Mitzvah Maker segment, we hear how Rachel attributes her love of Judaism, professional success and dedication to community to the lessons and values she learned at Tamarack Camps. She’s a true shaper of Tamarack’s proud rallying cry of offering the BEST. SUMMER. EVER! Break out the bug juice and enjoy.
