Pooling Resources and Creating Partnerships to Send Teens to Israel
Say hello to Emily Lulkin, Maya Goldman and Will Shulak, three amazing teen mentors with PeerCorps Detroit, putting their energies and talents into community-based work in Detroit, representing the next NEXTGen to watch attain leadership roles in the years ahead.
His teachers describe him as an exemplary student, a natural leader, a consensus builder and a role model. His favorite subjects in school? Biology, Calculus and Talmud. This is Nathaniel Faber – “Nati” as his friends and family call him – a senior at Akiva and the recipient of the 2015 David Hermelin Scholarship Award.
As in many cities across the country today, Detroit no longer has a “Jewish hospital.” Most fortunately, however, the legacy of Sinai Hospital is alive and well, living today through the work of The Jewish Fund.
With the goal to send more teens to Israel, Federation, congregations and Tamarack Camps are now working in partnership to launch Teen Mission 2016.
