History Help Line is brought to you by the Joan Meyers Jampel Center for Michigan Jewish Heritage, a collaboration between the Rabbi Leo M. Franklin Archives of Temple Beth El and the Leonard N. Simons Jewish Community Archives of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.

We’re totally stoked to take you back in time with photos from the Junior and Young Adult Divisions of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit. Today, you might know this group as NEXTGen Detroit. This department was founded all the way back in 1938! While it may have gone through a few name changes over the years, it is still focused on engaging young adults, ages 21-39.

While we love the fashion trends in the 1975 photo below—from the bell bottoms to shoulder pads, everyone was looking hip—we’re mostly interested in who they are! If you recognize anyone in the photo, please let us know by going to this link and hitting the “Send us Feedback” button.

Cool beans! Help us identify the people in this 1975 photo.

But that’s not all! Our Junior Division/ Young Adult Division photographs go back to the 1950’s, so feel free to travel back in time and browse these photos and so many more in our collection. If you have any info on them (names, places, dates), we’d appreciate a tip! Just a reminder, all you need to do is click “Send Us Feedback” and we will take care of the rest. Please be as specific as possible with your information, it will really help our efforts to tag and describe the images as accurately as possible! And keep up to date with the latest news and announcements on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or TikTok.
