Bedtime: that cuddle time with the kids is no time to be without those favorite books. Unfortunately, Hurricane Harvey swept away that cherished bedtime ritual for hundreds of Jewish families who lost their books to flooding in Houston.
In response, PJ Library’s Harold Grinspoon Foundation in Agawam, Massachusetts called for a nationwide P.J. Book Drive, rallying Jewish communities across the country to help those families replace their PJ books.
Here in Metro Detroit, PJ Library Families answered the call and stepped up to help. Parents and children collected books in their homes and delivered them to the Jewish Community Center and Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit. All told, more than 600 PJ Library books were gathered here in Metro Detroit and shipped to Houston along with more than 4,500 books collected nationwide!
