Is there really any better example of “tradition” than a Passover seder? Generation after generation, many Jewish families can bet that at least once a year they’ll sit down at the table, open the Haggadah, pass the salt water, hold up the matzah and someone will say, “this is the bread of affliction that our ancestors ate in the land of Egypt.”

Sure, as the years go by, the trends everyone is wearing around the table will change, the technology used to cook the meal will become more green and space-aged, and the conversations between songs and stories will no doubt include topics we can’t even imagine now. But as this collection of photos shows, the Passover seder is a tradition, a tradition that’s not going anywhere. One day, we will be the ancestors, but in the meantime, let all who are hungry eat!
