A wonderful tradition has taken root in Jewish communities around the world during Christmas time, a tradition of volunteering. Here in Detroit, we have our annual Mitzvah Day on December 25, and the turnout is inspiring. But volunteering and giving back feels good all year long, not just in December. And once you find a place you love volunteering at, it’s a pleasure taking a few hours you might use for something else and filling them with the gift of giving.

Although, sometimes even if there is a will, the hardest part is finding a way. Thanks to an innovative website, iVolunteer Jewish Detroit, you can find a volunteer opportunity that speaks to you anytime of year. iVolunteer Jewish Detroit matches individuals, families and groups to opportunities for hands-on meaningful involvement with a variety of Jewish non-profit organizations. Here are a few ideas to get you started, and there are plenty more to discover on iVolunteer!
