So long as there has been a modern State of Israel, there have been inspiring, life-altering journeys led by and supported by Jewish Detroit.

The year was 1954

Max M Fisher often cited his participation on the United Jewish Appeal mission to Israel in 1954 as a seminal experience in his life, one that underscored the importance of being forever vigilant to ensure Israel’s existence and survival.  Max would continue his lifelong service to the community to become a revered Jewish leader and a trusted adviser to United States presidents and Israeli prime ministers.
